Summary: There are two main types of laptop stands: fixed and adjustable. All of the adjustable ones I checked were VERY difficult to set up. Fixed is limited in both height and angle. They leave this style regulated by gradual mechanical adjustment (not screw tension). Remarks: This stand did not come with any instructions, so that the buyer had a chance to find out. There are two adjustable levers. If you adjust the bottom one, I made the mistake of locking it, and when it's in the first locked position (not the horizontal/unlocked position) the stand jumps. If you unlock it, the problem will go away. The minimum angle in the down position is about 32.5 degrees. The maximum angle is about 62.5 degrees (there are two other angles, but not very useful ones). When you turn on the bottom height adjustment, there are two steps. Combining that with the five adjustments above gives you a total of 10 angles (at the increased elevation). Recommendations: I was a bit skeptical that this design would be reliable; I can confirm that it is not only a solid construction, but also a very strong and stable one.
