I bought this camera to monitor a very large vacant building for work. The building is a couple of hours away so I just needed something to get an overview of park activities etc. It's mounted on a light pole with a coordinating solar panel and has been charging for the past few months without question. We haven't had to touch it since it was installed about 9 months ago. It seems that the most negative reviews are related to the SIM card and internet connection. I already had 2 lines on the Cricket Unlimited plan ($80 per month) and currently adding a 3rd line costs only $10 which is a lot to have unlimited data for this camera. I bought a Cricket SIM card and activated it on my phone first. As soon as I moved it to the camera it made a good connection straight away and hasn't fallen off since. Activating the Reolink mobile and desktop app is as easy as scanning a QR code or entering a UID number β you don't need to know/fiddle around with IP addresses or other advanced settings to get it working. As other reviewers have pointed out, there's no option to schedule recordings or snaps - you can set the camera to automatically record to an SD card or an optional motion-based cloud service (you can adjust the sensitivity), and You can start recording manually or take snapshots in the app. . I contacted customer support via email and they stated that none of their battery powered cameras can run on a schedule or continuously due to battery life concerns. Unfortunately, with a solar panel and the ability to keep it plugged in via a charging cable, they don't offer that feature, at least when connected to one of those power sources. That being said, in my current application, the live view was really what I needed and the recordings aren't critical. Also, there are enough vehicles nearby to trigger the motion detector, so I still get a decent recording interval. I'm using the camera to cover a very large area and wasn't expecting/expecting to capture fine detail; However, the quality of the video exceeded all my expectations. I can zoom in and distinguish a sedan from an SUV over 300 meters from the camera, and areas closer to the camera are very clear - especially for something in this price range. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and it works well for my application - just keep in mind your specific needs with an eye on the shooting options (manual only and motion based).
