The spoon works well, but when the ice cream is hard you really have to try! It is durable and unlikely to break or fall apart. I recently had the pleasure of using a Zeroll ice cream scoop and was hoping this would work as well. It's not like this. It's harder to use, doesn't slide over hard ice cream, and doesn't produce those nice, clean balls you get with Zeroll. Why I bought this shovel - it costs twice as much. So, if you want to treat yourself and get some really great results, get Zeroll. If you want a good scoop, well this one is good.
