I have used a Suunto Spartan HR but after sending it to a repair center a second time due to a manufacturing defect I was ready for an upgrade. After some research, I settled on a Polar watch that seemed to have all the attributes of the more expensive competing brands. I run 35-50 miles a week and walk fairly regularly. The battery lasts at least a few days even with daily training, constant heart rate monitoring and sleep sensors. The GPS is very accurate (I measured it using a published race distance) and the barometer generally matches the elevation profile on the maps I use on my hikes. The only thing I don't trust is the sleep sensor, which keeps telling me I'm not sleeping well, even when I wake up feeling great. At the moment I don't have a way to compare the sleep sensor to any other product, so I just don't consider the data. The heart rate sensor appears to be as accurate as the Suunto despite the extra LEDs. I usually use the Polar H10 HR strap on my runs to get more accurate readings and the watch and HR sensor connect very easily. The determination of whether your cardiovascular system is fatigued appears to be accurate based on a review of my post-workout power records. I've started reducing the days that the watch tells me to rest, although I don't usually rely on technology too much to make my body feel better. I had no problems with the watch or the software. , although I use third-party software for training planning instead of the included Polar Flow. Despite the occasional knock on my watch, including a few hits on rocks while hiking, I still haven't had a single notable scratch.
