I have several Blink cameras and all outdoor cameras mount to trees. I quickly found that this could be an issue if you have inquisitive squirrels, raccoons, crows, or neighborhood cats (my property has all four of them infested), as the Blink ships mounts are pathetic with their cameras. A slight nudge from an animal or a strong gust of wind is enough to dislodge the camera, and trying to adjust the direction of the camera while it's "attached" to the original Blink mount is a major annoyance. These replacement brackets are worth every penny. For those claiming that these mounts come with no instructions, well on the kit I received the installation instructions are right on the outside of the box. There was also a flyer in there. In truth you don't need instructions as it is obvious how to assemble them. They're certainly no more difficult to install than those awful little ones that come with cameras. The canopy over the camera actually protects it from rain and to a lesser extent from dust/pollen and this clearly adds an extra layer of protection. to prevent moisture from entering the battery compartment while the camera is facing slightly downwards. The mount itself screws securely into the housing surrounding the camera, eliminating the need for a slight push or gust of wind to pull the cameras off the mount, which could damage your camera if you find it later. Once the camera is set up and aligned the way you want it (which is very easy) and all the settings are solid, it's rock solid. The squirrel happily demonstrated that it wouldn't budge when he mounted it, then she and a friend raced up and down the tree that the camera was mounted on, sometimes using the camera as a launch pad and the camera didn't move. We also had a pretty decent hurricane a few days ago and while I've always worried about my cameras during really bad weather as they're all completely open to whatever mother nature throws at my property, these new mounts have come fast held - no problem. . It also does NOT in ANY WAY interfere with the night vision, as at least one reviewer (perhaps an earlier model?) has said, or the microphone. The cameras work the same as they do on the mounts provided by Blink. These new mounts can also stun would-be or opportunistic thieves, or at least get them to work for their ill-gotten gains (while giving the camera time to get a good shot), as it may not be obvious how to remove them the camera to anyone unfamiliar with this mount. That's an added plus: if you need to remove the camera to change the batteries, the camera mount/housing stays exactly how you wanted it - no more repositioning once you insert the camera into its housing. The supplied screws are useless - minor niggle - buy some decent screws from the hardware store if you don't have them on hand. Other than that, it's a great purchase that I'm sure will extend the life of my Blink cameras and will certainly be worthy "insurance" on my investment in these Blink cameras. I only wish Blink would outfit them with their cameras instead of the fancy, useless mounts that come with them.
