You get what you pay for.
The expected mount for the ring appears to be on top of the tripod. Any other attachment point will require you to tighten the ring to hold it in place (due to weight). This leads to a premature end of the service life. The tripod seemed short and thin to me. As advertised, but not enough. I would invest a little more money and do some research next time I buy.
