The selection of coffee machines for 5-6 cups from the Mr Coffee caliber is very limited. Maybe I'm a coffee snob, but I could never seriously consider such a thing. My need for a smaller size was mainly due to the tiny size of my kitchen and countertop. We rarely need "enterprise size" coffee pots. I chose the coffee maker based on the size, the great reviews for the quality of coffee produced, and the clean, modern look. When I first unboxed it, I wasn't disappointed with the looks at first, but I was reminded that the price is $50. It was plastic, not metal. The finish isn't trying to be stainless steel, it's clearly a matte gray. I was able to test the "pan" immediately. The lid of the cone filter basket is a bit reluctant to remove. It requires a little curvy movement. I bought a permanent cone filter that fits well. Once I scooped the coffee and poured water, all I had to do was wait for the coffee. Here I missed the pour and serve function. I will learn to live without her. 6 minutes of life is not the end of the world. The taste of the coffee was amazing! Very important. I was very pleased. After a few days I only have a few complaints. I forgot to turn it off once before. I've never had a maker that didn't turn off automatically, so I need to practice. It would be nice without a break and fill, but it doesn't bother me. I can live with those little issues because it looks great in the kitchen and makes great coffee. I've had him for 6 months now. I made the right decision with the purchase. it is that locking the cover in place makes easy removal basically impossible. I switched to paper filters and all is right with the world. In today's age of automation, this coffee pot is a zen experience.
