Review on πŸ”Œ ARB 10900028 Threaded Socket/Surface Mount Outlet: An Ideal Electrical Solution by Lild Zimmerly

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good quality outlet - cap too small

I bought this outlet for the same reason most people buy it: to make a more secure connection with an ARB fridge freezer. Since it's just good wiring sense, and since it's also recommended by the ARB, I ran 10 gauge wire from the battery to this connector. Unfortunately, the surface mount cap is too small (in my opinion) to fit a 10/12 gauge wire connector and cable into the cap at the back of the jack. You can probably get it to fit, but it's very tight and I've tried bending the connector pins on the back of the socket to do this. I ended up just using a socket in a homemade junction/project box instead of the supplied surface mount cover. The socket itself makes a good impression and serves its purpose. It really keeps the plug out of the fridge, which is why I bought this setup in the first place. But I took two stars off this rating because I feel the cap is poorly designed for the wiring sensor that this application is likely to use.
