Review on πŸ“Ί Hisense 65-Inch H9 Quantum Series 4K ULED Smart TV with Android and Hands-Free Voice Control (65H9G, 2020 Model) by Mark Hicks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for high-quality content, but not for everyday use.

I bought an H9G with TCL 6 series mini-LED, put them side by side and watched TV, movies and games like a normal person (that is, although I feel that all these TV picture tests are useful , sometimes they are not realistic for content that is normally played). I found the H9G to be very good at handling movies, especially streaming services that offer higher quality content (Disney Plus, Netflix, Revain). However, I found that even with the updated Xfinity "4k" box, the cable needed some tweaking to make it look good. I understand that this scales a poor signal, but even watching "HD" content was blurry and had a lot of noise. Again, it looked good at times, especially after tweaking, but it just felt like I was adjusting the image settings every time I switched content (even after saving the settings for different inputs). Then we tried it in games, I have a new madden game and honestly it didn't look good, again after many tweaks we got it playable but not what I was hoping for. What was the problem, at first the colors never seemed right, either too light or too dark or washed out, sometimes I saw noise or artifacts, again just not a good experience. Just to make sure I'm not going crazy, I tried the exact same game on the same system on a new TCL 635 and it looked and worked fine once it went into play mode. Even my old LG seemed to have a more stable picture than the H9G. Again, I'm not a TV reviewer, just a regular guy trying to find a TV that can watch entertainment content (movies, video games, streaming) without thinking about the picture. I really wanted to like the H9G as it's a beautiful TV, love the design, the shape, the silver trim but didn't like it as much as I was hoping. Not to mention that they've made some interesting choices when it comes to the colors and design of their menu that actually expose some of the flaws in gray and other colors that seem to show banding. All of this to say that this is a good TV if you're streaming 4k content (4k videos on YouTube looked amazing) but for general everyday use, watching the news, watching a football game or just watching old content, you might be disappointed by noise/graininess and color distortion. This is my point of view, I hope it helps you in your purchasing decision.
