I really do like this little lantern, but I mainly bought it because it can USB charge. I really really hate having to deal with batteries! I charge it up at my bedside and put it in the pantry where I always need a light. About once a week I might reach for the lantern, and inevitably it has lost its charge by the time I need it. Have to plug it in again. If I used it every day, I might not find it so annoying. I could just put real batteries in it for backup, but that's what I want to avoid. I do think it's a nifty little item and would recommend it. Just beware if you are planning to charge and leave it sitting until you need it and you do NOT put real batteries in. You will be sitting in the dark in a storm with no power to charge.
