The range of this item is close at best and if it is out of range you will need to get very close to the collar for it to reconnect, the remote control or the collar that is holding it gets out of reach. The flashlight does not make up for its shortcomings. This was recommended as a replacement for the old product which is no longer available. This item had a wide range with the same 3 features. This item has a vibration setting and although the screen shows its power increasing there is no noticeable difference between 1, 20 or more. This remote control is also much bigger than my old one and more annoying when it gets attached to clothes or snags on my shirt, my old one I could keep in my pocket or on my shirt like a walkie talkie. It's not a bad item but if you have it for a potential rabbit/cat hunter like me it's not the best option as your dog will go out of range very quickly and you might not even be able to signal him with the sound function.
