Good replacement for Camelbak Quicklink water seal bite valve

I needed a 90 degree bite valve but Camelbak doesn't currently offer one so I found this one. I was a bit hesitant to purchase this valve as some reviewers say it won't fit camel beetle quick connect, others say it will. I have Premier with free returns so worst case scenario I can still get my money back. When it arrived I tried inserting a tube of antidote and it fit, although not perfectly. I see that the release button didn't quite raise when the valve was fully inserted. I felt it was safe enough, I just kept walking and running with it. Compared to the Camel Tank Bite Valve, the shoe on the stock spool where the quick connector connects to the valve is slightly narrower than the Camel Tank Valve, but as said, the connector was still able to hook it on. Using this valve is good, I like the fact that it's 90 degrees so I don't have to pull much of the tube in front of me to drink from it. The cap is very tight initially and it took me a while to learn how to remove it with one hand. Here I also have to point out the biggest disadvantage of the scroll valve, it's very annoying that I can't just close the lid with one hand. Coming from the camel beetle bite valve, the cap is connected with a stiffer silicone strap, it was easy to open or close with one hand, but the cap on this valve is attached with a rope, so when I drink while walking/running, the cap flies all over the place then I have to catch them with my hand, try to put them back on the valve, that flies now too since my other hand is holding my gun/equipment. I hope you understand the picture. Overall I would recommend you try this valve, especially if you want a 90 degree bite valve. If you're worried it won't fit your camel snorkel, try assembling the valve snorkel with the source. From what I understand the hose that connects to the bladder uses the same connector as the current camel tank (quicklink).

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • A few minor things
