Review on πŸ’» Dell S3221QS Ultra Thin 4K Display with DisplayPort Certification, Flicker-Free Technology, Tilt Adjustment, Anti-Glare Screen, and High Dynamic Range by Scott Hundley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice monitor

I really like the picture quality and the screen. I take a few photos on the fly and found the color reproduction to be razor sharp, at least to my eyes - other professional videographers and photographers know more than I do. I wish the manual controls were more customizable. Changing the inputs requires multiple button presses to get to the appropriate menu. I wish there was a separate enter button. The PIP function works, but you cannot use both HDMI ports for it; You must use HDMI and DisplayPort. Also, and I don't know if this is a standard feature elsewhere, only one audio stream goes through PIP. I would prefer both, but I don't know if that's a reasonable requirement. I ordered a used monitor in very good condition from Revain stock and sent it back - there were a few dead pixels and one of the HDMI ports was disconnected. Input and output random (I've tried multiple cables and devices). When I bought a new model I had the same issue with the HDMI port (again tried multiple cables and devices). Since I can use DisplayPort and have an HDMI switch for computers, I decided to keep it rather than bring it back. But this is a warning; If it's a general quality control issue, you may have an HDMI issue. I'm using external speakers, so I can't comment on the monitor's sound quality. I also didn't use a VESA mount. The stand is a little chunky at the bottom, but it's covered by my soundbar, so that's not a problem. The frame isn't as minimal as other models in the same price range, but that doesn't bother me. As far as viewing angles go, the screen seems matte to me so there isn't too much glare. Extreme corners cause distortion, but this is a curved monitor, so that's to be expected. As far as cable management goes, it doesn't hide things very well, but I don't need it for my desk. Overall I like this monitor. a lot and I would probably buy again knowing everything I know now.
