Review on πŸ”§ High-Quality Joyway Stainless Flange Fitting M18X1.5 for Superior Functionality by Josh Goldsmith

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Working on a temporary installation in my amateur home, internal plumbing renovation project

Price was reasonable for use as temporary NPT plugs...cheaper than brass drinking water plugs and less likely to wear out from constant moving on a home plumbing repair and upgrade project I asked . In my case I received these three stainless steel plugs thinking I would use them to plug the lines on my 1/2 inch galvanized steel home water system while I am doing a PEX project. They work well with cheap NPT connectors, but cannot be left permanently in galvanized steel, copper, or brass fittings without causing severe corrosion. Great for temporary work (and certainly in this application they're probably more reusable than galvanized steel or brass for short-term purposes). I'm still renovating my home plumbing system and so far I've only had to use one of these plugs and it seems to move well with minimal thread distortion, minimal screwdriver wear etc. Rust stains quickly at the site. Smaller part plugs are constantly exposed to our good water, so I imagine this plug will quickly corrode if you use it in a dirty water galvanized piping system. UPDATE April 2021: The promotional image shows them as solid plugs. You are not. These are NPT hollow plugs. This doesn't significantly affect their use, but if you're expecting a solid plug, be aware that it isn't! Three plugs were enough to slowly repair our old steel pipes with Pex. B. And the corrosion on the plugs was less than I expected and although they obviously cause more corrosion over time than the brass plugs, I leave at least one of them in place and see how old the steel tubing around it is. In other words, I haven't ordered any brass plugs yet, and I don't plan on doing so any time soon. Accordingly, I have upgraded these plugs from 3 to 4 stars. My guess is that by the time these plugs start to cause serious corrosion all of the old galvanized steel pipe in our house will probably have been replaced. ;/

Pros

Cons
  • Not bad but...
