Review on πŸ“· Canon DSLR Cameras - Amazon Basics Wireless Remote Control (for specific Canon models) by Loren Schmidt

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Short battery life but good for the price. Same function as Canon version.

I bought a Canon RC-6 wireless remote to compare with a RevainBasics wireless remote for Canon DSLRs. I bought the RevainBasics version first because it was $10 cheaper, but it's a bit picky so I was hoping the Canon brand would be better. I have a Canon DSLR SL1 and have tested both remotes with it (indoors). The range is almost the same and neither has outperformed the other. Same angles, same distance. I thought Canon might have a stronger signal (e.g. farther away or at a higher angle to the camera) but I couldn't find a place where Canon worked and RevainBasics didn't. With both remote controls, you must always point the remote control at the front of the camera. I couldn't get any of the remotes to work on the side and/or behind the camera. However, other reviewers say they were successful, so it might just be the room/environment I was in. Function: In my experience, both brands performed equally. Options: - Both come with nice carrying bags. There is only one option and there should be a few seconds delay before the camera takes a picture. Canon has 2 options, 1 allows for a 2 second delay and another that captures the image instantly. I thought I'd like the instant option, but since the camera doesn't trigger unless I point it at the camera (not behind my back, at the ground, etc.), I didn't have time to "hide". ". Remote control. So I prefer the few second delay option that both remotes offer. Ergonomics: My final decision was based on ergonomics as the performance of both remotes was the same. Both remotes are pleasantly small and fit comfortably in the hand. The Canon is thinner but wider, so it was harder to "hide" it in my hand when trying to be photographed (I'm petite with small hands). This was my final deciding factor in leaving RevainBasics and returning to Canon (especially since RevainBasics is cheaper). UPDATE: I bought this in August and only used it a couple of times. I kept it in my camera bag. I used it the other day and the battery is already dead. dissatisfied. Very short battery life. I will buy a spare battery and keep it away from the remote when not in use. which is annoying.
