This device is an excellent supplementary set of volume meters for complex audio systems where you need to monitor signal levels at specific points in the signal chain. I use it as part of a 4500w home audio system that includes 7 amplifiers, multiple processing units and custom preamps. There are several test points in the system where I can balance the system with test signals and voltmeters. This device adds level control to the output of the amplifier's main preamp in a set of test points. This saves me from using handheld voltmeters to make adjustments (you may need to add input balance potentiometers to calibrate the left/right gauges exactly for this purpose). The switches are small but very useful and inexpensive.
