Ideal for finding low pressure gas leaks!

Excellent for low pressure gas/propane leaks, typically downstream of a pressure regulator. to display accurate readings, unlike Magnehelic differential pressure gauges. Most people don't worry about low pressure leaks after the regulator though, because who cares if they go high or clear. Shrug, look on the bright side, you're saving about $50 plus time spent locating and maintaining gas lines! My gut feeling is to get at least one of these and check your gas/propane lines once a year, especially if your gas lines experience seasonal variations in hot/cold weather. If you don't know what you're doing, hire a contractor, but make sure they have the equipment/knowledge needed to do a thorough leak check, not a quick spray of soapy water on the gas lines. If you are in the process of draining/installing gas lines, make sure that tees are installed at specific locations along the gas line to verify gas line integrity, otherwise you will likely have problems reducing leaks and/or need to install pipe T -Pieces later for control pressure gauge. My only concern is that the case doesn't look very weatherproof and a permanent installation could likely require gauge protection. In addition, a small mount can easily be accidentally knocked over, since it is best to use such an armored hull. Not sure about the long-term humidity, but I have another higher pressure (15-20 psi) winter gauge under the outside cover of a propane tank exposed to the humidity of NE Ohio Lake and it seems accurate without Signs of corrosion after two years. Therefore, at the very least, armored housing (e.g. a metal cap on a propane tank) is best installed only under controlled humidity conditions. But as far as I know these sensors can be designed during design/manufacturing with outdoor installation in mind.

Pros
  • Brass wetted parts for pressure measurement of non-aggressive liquids and gases
Cons
