Good hardware for headphone accessories

I bought the FiiO BTR3K mainly to use with a Boltune BA002 transmitter connected to my TV. The BTR3K works: sounds good, maintains a stable Bluetooth connection, and allows me to use aptX LL or HD depending on how I set up the Boltune transmitter. So far I've encountered two issues, neither of which are of major concern to me, but might be to you: while the Android version of the FiiO Control app works fine, the iPhone version of this app doesn't work for me at all: it can't see that BTR3K is connected even if I can make calls and play music through the device. It doesn't matter much as the app doesn't do anything essential - it's just there to tweak some settings like codec settings. Another problem is that the BTR3K doesn't work with the microphone in my Apple Earpods: the person on the other end of the call only hears a kind of high-pitched screeching. However, it works with the wired Sennheiser headset I have, and the microphone built into the BTR3K itself also works well when I plug regular headphones into it. If you want to use it to make calls on your iPhone, there may be (solvable) problems.
