Don't think this thing will work as advertised

I bought this so I wouldn't have to constantly plug my Garmin power adapter into my car and Garmin 20 DVR. I unplug the power cord when I park to reduce the chance that a thief can see the cable hanging from the camera and then break into the car to take the camera. The first EDO Tech power supply I bought had an intermittent connection to the camera, so the camera kept turning on and then off. I returned the defective Revain cable and ordered a different one. Start in data mode. The camera started up fine so I spent another $10 on the fuse and fuses. After finding a terminal, which turns on and off with the ignition, I did a complete install with the wire hidden in the head cowling and windshield pillar. I noticed that the control box(?) has ventilation holes, so I installed it so that the control box is outside to avoid overheating. The camera worked well for the first ten times I used the device. I wasn't home, I got into an area where traffic suddenly stopped without warning, people ran across the street and general chaos reigned. I look into the camera. The camera was in data mode waiting for an answer. If I hadn't been lucky enough to see what was happening and stop in time, the EDO power supply that forced the camera into data mode would have destroyed the signal. The only reason I bought the camera is to have evidence of what happened. hidden in the headliner and windshield pillar.
