Review on 🎧 KZ ZS10 HiFi IEM Earbuds, Five Driver In-Ear Headphones Monitors Earphones (Black) - No Mic by Demian Shah

Great idea but poor components muffle sound

Awesome and affordable products are made in China these days. Sometimes they break the "you get what you pay for" rule. In that case, there are better sounding options in this price range. After listening to various sources and genres of music through the KZ ZS10, I kept hearing that the frequencies were fighting each other. Sometimes the high frequencies were very clear with weak bass, or the strong mids faded into an uneven sound. This is something I don't experience with other headphones, so I started researching a few things. This could be a problem: This IEM kit is advertised as using 5 drivers. The purpose of multiple drivers is to separate frequency bands into drivers designed to best handle those frequencies. Cheap headphones don't do that well because they don't have the crossover mechanisms needed to "sort" the frequency ranges properly. Instead, all frequencies go to the bass driver and it just plays what it can. The bass and mids go to the high frequency driver and it just delivers what it can. That certainly explains what I heard! Odd noise aside, despite the cord wrapping around my ear, they kept falling out of my ears despite the large earbuds. Mind you, I wasn't exercising, I was just sitting at my desk looking at my iPad. It's very annoying to have to keep putting them back in your ears. Improved foam tips can help with this, but they won't fix the problems with cheap drivers. Interchangeable cables are a nice feature because even with better headphones, they're the first thing to fall apart. I liked the functionality and they weren't uncomfortable (aside from not staying in the ear). But I'd rather have single-driver headphones with clear, stable sound than five-driver headphones that sound like they can't make up their minds.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Non-automatic
