A very durable four section carbon tripod. Separate locking knobs on head for pivoting and variable resistance on ball head. With a maximum payload of 17.63 pounds, it will hold any of my cameras up to a 4x5. I've been using the aluminum Manfrotto 190 for ten years and the BeFree Advanced complements it perfectly. I appreciate the fact that the qr headstock clamp is compatible with both Arca Swiss and my old RC2 platters. Legs unfold smoothly providing a solid base, cross connectors lock in 3 angles. The center post can be flipped for easier operation and once you get used to it, the center post twist-lock is a great feature. I usually carry a multi-purpose camera with me when I travel; Rollei or 500 C/M and camera 4x5; either my Graflex Super Graphic or the Wista metal field camera. The BeFree Advanced goes well with my gear and provides a light and solid base for the cameras I take with me on long trips, allowing me to use my old trusted 190 camera that I prefer to use closer to the car, like my Century 8x10. .
