Ford Escape 2006 Hybrid. Standard immission test code received, scanner said thermostat. Removal of the idler/tensioner pulley is mandatory. I've tried bypassing it, but it's a lot easier to see and remove the brackets. Make sure you have a clean drain pan that will hold about a half gallon of coolant. You can reuse it. Reinstall the details. Add coolant, warm up the car and check the coolant level. After replacing the thermostat, the car becomes much more electric. Best $35 repair I've ever done.
