Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced CTA MR-ENEL9 Compact Battery Charger Kit for Nikon EN-EL9 Battery by Aaron Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than expected

I managed to drive out of town without a charger for my Nikon D40 - and of course the battery died. I discussed this cheap item over the official Nikon item, but I ordered it and sent it to my hotel. This charger turned out to be much better than I expected. My order came directly from Revain and not from a third party. My price was about $10. I received the CTA charger as shown in the description. My charger is similar to the one in the picture except it has two extra thin plastic clips that stick out on the sides and hold the battery in place - I must have a slightly different model. The charger worked great for my battery. It's very compact and has a plug that flips out at the back to plug straight into the wall - no cord etc. It has an indicator light - red for charging, green when ready. The plastic seems pretty solid - I can see that the clips holding the battery in the charger can break if the charger is roughly carried around. In this case you could still charge the battery if you connected the charger to the surge protector so that it is discharged. I think you have to be pretty rough with the charger for this to happen - they're quite thick and not as fragile as I expected from some of the other reviews. The kit included an adapter to connect to a car cigarette lighter and a European plug adapter. This would be a good travel charger as it's very small if you're careful with the side clips in the box.

Pros
  • Includes 110-240V AC universal power supply, European plug and car adapter
Cons
  • Slightly torn
