This speaker is very convenient to use on my Windows 10 desktop computer: I just plugged it into a USB port and it announced that it was in the "PC mode" and then continued to play any audio sent from my computer. It was plug and play, no drivers to install. By pressing the volume button on the side, I was able to easily switch to "Bluetooth mode" and connect my smartphone to it. The sound was good and could be quite loud. but it's not a full/rich sound. Meaning: The music sounded good, but there wasn't much bass. It works great as a desktop speaker in my opinion, but not so well for music playback. In fact, I have a bunch of cheap old Logitech powered speakers hooked up to my desktop and I find they sound better, so I won't be replacing them with this speaker. the supplied USB cable is connected to the computer or other power source. I have several Bluetooth speakers that I can plug into an outlet to charge and then unplug and use for hours, but this one doesn't work on its own. It must be constantly connected to the network, otherwise it will not work. This may not be a problem for you, but sometimes I like to lose cables.
