My 2005 Chevy Colorado started running very hard straight away driving down the freeway. It could barely stay idle either. Of course the engine light came on and when I got home I pocketed my cheap but reliable OBD code scanner (also bought from Revain) which showed a few codes. Looking at the codes online, 99% of the comments on the Chevy forum and other online mechanics (of course) gave multiple doomsday diagnoses. However, a single mechanic wrote that the problem I was seeing (and the codes I was getting) indicated a bad camshaft actuator solenoid 95% of the time. Considering the price of this part I decided it was worth a try so I ordered it. Received it and (once I found where it was on the engine) installed it within 20 minutes with no problems. I then cleared the codes, ran it, and immediately my 2005 Chevy Colorado ran smoothly again. A month later it's still working great and the codes haven't returned.
