Good camera - lots of features for the price

This is a gift for our 8 year old grandson. He seems to have an intuitive understanding of computers and other electronic devices, so I assume he'll be a pro soon after showing him the controls. It probably won't get any lower than the bottom of the tub just yet, but the case appears to be waterproof so I don't expect any problems. I took a few pictures and made a short video to make sure everything works and turned out well, but I can't comment on the long-term image quality. The camera does NOT come with an SD card. It said you could upgrade up to 64GB, and I found a cheap one at Revain (2 for $12), installed one in the camera and formatted it. Formatting was easy once I decided to read and follow the instructions. Everything was neatly packed in a hard case, with a battery in the camera (about half charged) and a spare battery in the case. What I liked is that the battery can be charged in the camera by simply plugging in the supplied USB cable or by plugging into the charger. Incidentally, the charger has two slots so that both batteries can be charged at the same time. It comes with many attachments, mainly so that it can be mounted on different types of surfaces or devices (helmet, tripod, etc.). There is also an app on Google Play or the Apple Store, which allows you to wirelessly transfer data to your phone or tablet. I haven't tried this. The advertised remote comes with a spare battery and even a small screwdriver to open the case and change the batteries. I put the camera in video mode and pressed the video button on the remote control and it launched immediately. The same applies to the photo button. One thing I didn't like (although I may be new to the camera. Whenever I've turned it off and on again, it defaulted to video mode. I'd like to be able to set it to toggle the mode at my choice .and then turning it on again it defaulted to video mode.I want to be able to set it to that it activates the mode of my choice. and then turning it back on, it defaulted to video mode. I want to be able to set it to activate the mode of my choice.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
