Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ TP-Link TL-WN881ND N300 PCIe WiFi Card - High-performance Wireless Network Adapter for PC by Kevin Pirlet

This company offers excellent customer service.

I bought this little gem of a network card because I have a medium sized desktop and needed a faster network than (then) USB options could offer. Unpack the card, install it in a free PCI Express slot, install the driver (on the supplied CD), connect external antennas, done. Not quite. I installed this device in the shortest PCI Express slot I had on my system and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I was able to get it to work (more often) by deleting all network devices from Device Manager (Windows 7) and then restarting my computer. However, over time this fix worked less and less until I figured out what to do. Before I threw the card away and tried something new, I wrote to TP-Link support and explained my problem in detail. The company representative who took my call for help was very kind and asked me to try the adapter card on another computer. It worked perfectly. When I put it back into the first machine, I noticed that I have two PCI Express slots, one longer than the other. Just to see what happens I installed the card in a longer PCI Express slot and that solved my entire problem. I'm sure newer adapter cards and other networking options are available, but remember, if you're buying anything from TP-Link, be sure to write to the company. Wasted time can only save your sanity.
