Avoid Craftmade Sonnet DC 52 " and 60 " Ceiling Fans

Update: I received a full refund on both fans, but the amount of money we spent installing, reinstalling and balancing the fans was was a complete loss. We'll be in Phoenix all summer, so we use at least one ceiling fan in every room, indoors and out. We just installed several ceiling fans throughout the house from Casablanca, Minka Aire and Craftmade. All had new remote controlled DC motors. We found the Casablanca and Minka Aire fans to be extremely easy to install and operate. But the 2 craftmade fans were a bit more difficult to install and both were problematic to use. For the 52" and 60" Craftmade Sonnet fans, we synced the wall remote immediately after installation and completed the 5-minute auto-learning process. . Then we did a test run and found the following problems: 1. Fan twitches 4-5 times immediately after switching on. We checked and rechecked that the bolt was installed through the bottom bar, the set screw was tight, and the slot for the hanging ball was tight in the hanging bracket. No play in the 12" stem. However, the fan keeps twitching 4-5 times at startup. 2. When the fan starts at speed 1-5, the fan oscillates, then spins a few turns very slowly, oscillates again, then spins very slow and this may continue as long as there is power to the fan. The fan never starts. And this is after the automatic learning process has completed normally. 3. The fan is working "correctly" at high speed #6. If the When the fan speed is subsequently reduced by the wall controller, the strange behavior described in #2 reoccurs, so we called Craftmade support and spoke to Audie on tech support." Homemade Sonnet ceiling fans from another vendor . He wasn't surprised to hear my description of Sonnet's strange behavior. He was very direct when explaining that there were some issues with the new DC motor technology and apologized for the inconvenience. He asked me to contact us. The dealer we bought the Sonnets from and again looked for new motors. He was very apologetic and asked me to call him if we were still having trouble getting a replacement. So we paid an electrician to install and balance these fans. Minka and Sonnet fans were assembled, tuned and balanced in 30-40 minutes. Each craftmade fan took a few hours to complete. When a handyman or electrician repeatedly installs a fan, an expensive fan becomes even more expensive. In my case I'll ask for a replacement, but most likely you're just trying to install it yourself. In terms of aesthetics, the fans look beautiful. The remote control seems a bit clunky, looks awful in combination with Decora wall switches. The wall control UI is particularly lazy. Just take the handheld remote control design and stick it on the wall. The dimmer does not dim the light (and I installed dip switches!). Honestly, I would not recommend the Craftmade Sonnet DC ceiling fan. While the Craftmade technician was very apologetic and promptly replaced the fan motor, I cannot give credit to Craftmade either as they are aware of the issue and continue to let homeowners run the risk of fan failure. on the field. We just paid $100-$150 for a fan to have them professionally installed. It's a beautiful fan and Craftmade Technical Support has been very open about the issues with Sonnet's DC motor. They offered me a replacement engine. But I decided to just take a refund and try another fan. So 1 star to the seller and 1 star to the tech support. Zero stars for fans that cost over $300 to install but don't work. I would not recommend this fan to anyone.
