Is there anything special about these items? Not really. Once they're installed, probably no one will notice, but it's a small thing Tesla had to do at the factory. The open doorknob and this hinge just looks unfinished. Huge ugly screws on a door latch, industrial looking hinge. They are functional but look unfinished. Thanks to these plastic covers, everything looks more thoughtful and complete. Before putting on the black plastic caps, I sprayed the parts with lithium grease. So there is a certain mechanical advantage here too. You stay protected without lithium grease getting on your clothing. Installation (including lithium spray) took about a minute per door. Just five minutes. Totally worth the time and money invested.
