Review on Upgrade Your Studio Gear with Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones: 90-Degree Swiveling Earcups, Pro-Grade Earpads/Headband, and Detachable Cables by Chun Chun ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

I note that I don’t feel excessive pressure from the ear cushions - it is small in comparison with the HyperX Cloud headset that has been used for a long time. I solved the problem with the sound on my computer by plugging in a Creative SB Z that had been lying around for a long time with a connection to a dedicated headphone output - just earth and sky in comparison with the sound on the built-in codec (quite high-quality ALC1200) both in expressiveness and in terms of volume reserve (of course, with disabling all enhancers in the music mode and leaving them in the gaming ones, where they are quite appropriate). The same old forgotten sound box also solves the issue with a microphone for voice communication with a PC: a completely suitable external one came with it. For mobile use, I expect from China a relatively budget Chi-Fi player, a 120 cm cable, as well as thicker ear pads. . The ear pads and cable came from China. The ear pads completely cover the issue of wearing comfort (in the photo of the headphones at the keyboard on the left - native, on the right - Chinese), and the cable is generally fine - very soft and flexible (like Razer mouse cables), suitable for use with a phone in a bumper case (native cables the thread for the 6.3 mm adapter interferes).

Pros
  • - excellent sound: bright, but almost without embellishment; - good sound insulation; - sane price for such a sound; - high-quality materials and assembly; - a good package.
Cons
  • - on the built-in codec of the motherboard or a regular phone they sound very quiet and dry; - the headband slightly presses (the head is large) and the depth of the ear cushions is a little lacking; - no short cable included.

Has pros: Good reliable design, high-quality materials, Some cons: Only one thing upsets me - the lack of a short 1.2

The smartphone does not reveal the potential of the headphones, the Marantz receiver is another matter.

Its pros: Good sound, thick wire, nice appearance, the presence of a small case in the kit and an additional twisted cable. With its cons. The ears get a little tired after wearing the headphones for a long time, but this is rather a disadvantage of all headphones of this type.

I recommend for purchase as the first high-quality headphones, for professionals it is necessary further, this is not discussed.
