Tilt dispute resolved

Good monitor for the price. Good picture, no dead pixels. The menu system allows for many settings but is difficult to navigate due to a timeout of around 5 seconds when no button is pressed. Be sure to download the manual in PDF format, it contains much more information than the printed manual that came with the monitor. Both manuals say the monitor will tilt, but it won't move with reasonable effort at first. My husband, who is a highly skilled mechanic, inspected what turned out to be a hinged joint at the top of the base. It's made of steel and looks like it has a nut that controls the friction of the hinge. However, the nut is not accessible to the wrench while the hinge is in the socket. Removing four screws from the base allowed the hinge to come out. Loosening the nut did not release the hinge as expected. The rivet on the other side of the swivel was still causing excessive seizing. Neither applying silicone grease nor using tools to move the hinge back and forth helped. Eventually my husband resorted to drilling out and knocking out the head of the rivet. Note that there are some small washers on the screw and rivet that need to be watched. The rivet was not reusable. It has a shoulder that was supposed to keep it from tying the hinge, but apparently the wider part of the rivet was too short. The rivet was replaced with a 6mm screw. This involved both widening the hole in the outer hinge bracket and grinding the screw head to fit the base. The nut was screwed onto the new bolt a little over hand. Some Loctite may be recommended for monitors that are tilted frequently. The original bolt, set of washers and nut were reinstalled and the nut adjusted to the correct torque. The hinge was reinstalled in the base. When the base was attached to the monitor, it tilted slightly and stayed where it was placed. This work required great skill and will likely void any warranty. Not for the clumsy or the faint of heart. Incidentally, many users will likely find that loosening the friction nut loosens the hinge enough for it to work properly without affecting the rivet. connects the base and the monitor is not small. However, there is a great risk that the plastic parts of the monitor case or stand will break if the user frolics around too much. A little more attention
