For years when I went deer hunting with my hunting camp people would tell me how deer hear someone yelling on the radio and get scared before they can shoot. Therefore, people should turn it off when a deer approaches. This sometimes caused people to miss important hunting details, and even my father scolded me for having to go into the woods to see if I could see well. Now that my dad and I bought our new Midland radios, each of them came with one of these headsets. I found a good middle ground as you could still hear the radio but didn't want it screeching in the woods if you tried to be quiet. I still have mine but my dad threw away his so I had to order them again for him. Now both of us and a few other guys at camp use them every time we go. These headphones work very well in almost every way. You can hear someone speaking very clearly, like you're only hearing them on the radio, and I'm told the mic picks up sound very clearly and at a good volume. The only issue I found was that they become very uncomfortable fairly quickly and quite difficult to fit between the ear and mouth. hunting or other noisy activities
