We call them adventure pants. These are great pants for my 4 kids under 10. Perfect with base layers for cold weather hikes and snowshoeing, these pants are waterproof, slip resistant and tree climbing. I always buy a size up so we can wear them longer (which is why the included belt is great) but they do true to size if you follow the age guidelines. The knee pads could be more durable, that's my only reason for 4 stars, but we haven't drilled a hole in them yet.
