God I checked this product. Went to Marion Mountain Camp Ground in California. There was a huge number of flies, mosquitoes, whatever. Seriously, this was the worst major hike ever. My husband is from Tennessee and he even said he doesn't remember Tennessee being that bad the big ones were that bad. I would give it a 3 under these conditions, which was terrible and for a person not wanting to use the diet. In any case, the det wasn't amazing. We also used Repel Lemongrass deet free. In general, I can tell you that. My dog's ears didn't bite and I used it on her ears. I used this on my clothes and hands and the rest was exposed. I thought it worked but I had to apply it a lot but it smells nice. I would say this would be fine in say "normal" buggy conditions. This will prevent them from landing on you and biting you.
