I know some people just love these "channel lock" pliers but I've always put them at the bottom of my "most used" list. Of course, as with any tool, there are situations that just call for it, but after 40 years of farming I've found them very rarely. The biggest (and huge) problem with them is the danger they pose when removing a large workpiece. The grips connect, grab and crush whatever is between them, be it fingers or skin. The large pair here does it just like any other I've ever used. Soft grips offer some cushioning, but the risk is still there. A small sentence is much better at dealing with pinching. You cannot connect the handles. Although they're pretty close together, they still have a decent amount of room to play, even when set to their widest position. They are well made and have a good fit and finish. If you need this kind of tool, this version of Black and Decker is for you. I personally will avoid them if possible.
