Review on EKO Mirage-T 50L / 13.2 Gallon Touchless Rectangular Motion Sensor Trash Can with Brushed Stainless Steel Finish by Eric Rose

The new model is a step backwards.

This jar has a good sensor that works well to open and close the lid without touching it. A button can be pressed to hold the lid open until a separate closing button is pressed. To load, garbage bags (13 gallons) are wrapped around a small plastic frame, and then the bag is placed in the tank with the frame. I had the previous model 3 1/2 years before the sensor failed. I couldn't find this model anywhere. I liked the old model better. It had a seamless, one-piece plastic liner inside the glass. The size of the liner container was such that the garbage bag would simply stretch to accommodate it and thus stays in place very well when loading and retrieving the bags. In addition, the liner could be easily removed when the bag was fully loaded and taken out of the kitchen to be removed when soft debris had built up inside. The beautiful looking exterior of the glass didn't need to be touched at all. Now the cheap plastic ring doesn't hold the pouches securely until it pushes into the rim of the jar to lock everything in place. This of course ensures that part of the bag does not slip out. It often takes several attempts to properly install the bag. And when you pull off a stuffed pouch, you struggle with leaving fingerprints on the outer can, and when the trash gets dirty, cleaning the seams isn't as easy as cleaning an old seamless liner. Predecessor.
