Buy 8-32 screws BEFORE installation!

First, the dog doors are way too tall for what they are. Second, for the price, why do they include VINYL screws?! Every review I read warned about these glitches during installation, so I was very careful. Instead, many people bought their own 8-32 mounting bolts. Here I am, 10 months after installation, I hear a loud cracking sound in my garage. I go to the garage to explore and what do I find? A very scared and confused Rottweiler is looking at me through a hole in the front door of my garage. On the floor is the dog door frame itself. The expression on my pup's face was amazing. God knows how many times she ran in and out of that door and not once did she explode or fall to the ground. I live in Montana. It's getting cold in here. Those vinyl screws just couldn't last long. I just went to the hardware store and bought six 2.5 inch long 8-32 screws that I should have bought before installing this dog door. I had to knock the old broken vinyl screws out of the frame before I could even put new screws in. The vinyl heads on the old screws all seemed to fall off the frame at once. I found them all lying on the garage floor. an hour to redo - installing a dog door I only installed 10 months ago. Also, the magnetic closure on it seems like a great selling feature. And in a perfect world on a flat surface with 1G gravity and zero wind prevailing, this works great. In this scenario, the lack of a magnetic lock is likely to keep the door in the same closed position. But any breeze, and this vent could also be the sail on Blackbeard's pirate ship. Also remember, if your dog likes to chew on things (like Rottweilers) at some point the door panel will need to be replaced. They cost half as much as the door itself (assuming you can find a deal with Revain). And the small screws holding the shock itself often fall out. I tighten them all the time because they simply screw into a strip of thin metal with no backing to hold them. As the clasp moves, the screws will simply loosen over time. The quality of the ingredients here is terrible considering I bought the 'Extra Large' version which is meant for dogs up to 220lbs! Only one thing about this dog door has not disappointed me so far. . And it's a safety block that you can install to keep your dog out whenever you want. Heck, the aluminum frame itself isn't that great. The holes didn't match perfectly.
