Great Door - Cat Doors, Runs & Steps

I was pleasantly surprised with this unit. I used to have a 7" x 10" hard door car door and needed to upgrade to this larger dog door. Overall, it was very easy to increase the opening in the aluminum outer door. The dog door itself works surprisingly well. While the magnetic strip isn't perfect, it seems to hit the 9 out of 10 mark, which is a lot better than the last door I had that was held open only by the wind to allow for a massive draft. worried about nylon screws. It's important to note

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

  • Cord is shorter than other picks

A decent door if you don't live in a cold place.

This is a decent door for the price. However, I would only recommend installing it on a door that is not directly exposed to the weather or insects. For example a storm door or a door leading to a solarium or garage. It's definitely not weatherproof. The valve is only connected to a magnet at the bottom and can be easily released in light winds. If you live in a cold area, it's best to invest in a watertight door that's rated for cold weather. Also, as many other buyers have pointed out, the…

Compromises and cons are everywhere

This is for an X-Large door. Let's say you don't mind that the screws holding the wing stick out a half inch and could injure you or your dog. And that you agree with a company that charges so much and doesn't have product manuals on their website (a charge I'll be happy to clear up when the website is revamped to a respectable state). Not to mention that a replacement leaf costs almost half as much as a door. Also, will you agree that the sliding lid was engineered with a spring lock that…

  • Great for a small home

Nice plastic model update and we were able to reuse my old valve as a spare

We had to upgrade when our dog broke the old yellowing plastic model we had previously installed. I already cut out the door so I expected the installation would be easy. There was a small snag that the holes were in slightly different places so I had to lengthen them but it took about 5 minutes with a cordless drill. They've reduced the number of fasteners going through the door compared to the plastic model, which is nice, and the plug around the cutout is also all metal, not a cheap plastic…

Easy to install but not exactly energy efficient or weatherproof.

This replaced the smaller door on a storm door that had a dog door built into it (my golden retriever had trouble with the other door). This one works better for them. Installation was easy. Use a jigsaw to cut a larger hole (template provided). Drill 6 holes for nuts and bolts. append A note: my door came with 5 nuts and 4 screws. not quite suitable for 6 holes. So I used the nuts and bolts I already had. The instructions say x-large should have 6 or each. So maybe a quality control issue? And

EASY UPGRADE FROM EXISTING TO DOUBLE

My old house had a large single PetSafe door installed in an unair conditioned room. I never cared too much about how it was sealed. I installed one in my new home where it opens into an air conditioned space and often noticed that the wing was not connected to the bottom magnet and a small breeze kept it open. I started looking for models with two doors to stop drafts, but they were all different sizes. Since I had a door that was cut specifically for this particular door, I didn't want to…

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Buy 8-32 screws BEFORE installation!

First, the dog doors are way too tall for what they are. Second, for the price, why do they include VINYL screws?! Every review I read warned about these glitches during installation, so I was very careful. Instead, many people bought their own 8-32 mounting bolts. Here I am, 10 months after installation, I hear a loud cracking sound in my garage. I go to the garage to explore and what do I find? A very scared and confused Rottweiler is looking at me through a hole in the front door of my…

Protective door with slide rail and safety pin.

Great dog flap. When I bought my house from the old owner, my sliding glass door had a one-piece glass door/latch installed. So I tried the door, my dogs were my first experience with a dog door. My dogs got used to it quickly and loved it. What I really like is the plastic flap that slides into the door rail with a locking pin. We close the hatch at night and when we are not home for security reasons so that other animals do not come into our home when we are not around. It's safe and secure…
