Functionality - Kitchen & Dining

I've tried using this a few times but never managed to get the coffee warm or keep it warm. The plate heats up, the base of the cup heats up, but the coffee inside stays cold. I think the small rim on my cups keeps it from heating up my coffee. Take this into account when purchasing.
