I don't normally write reviews (although I do rely on them when making a purchase). Well, I had to write about this element. As soon as I received it, I tried some of my daughter's colored pencils. It not only sharpened well, but also quickly! We even sharpened some BRAND NEW pencils that we've never sharpened before and it only took 5-10 seconds. While it won't stop sharpening on its own, it's VERY easy to tell when it's done. I didn't count but I have to say that between colored pencils and regular pencils I've already sharpened almost 200 today and it's still good! While this works best with Crayola, any crayon will sharpen well and won't damage your crayons! The only issues are that sharpening pencils vertically takes a bit of getting used to and the shaving drawer is pretty small so you'll have to empty it frequently. Oh yeah, and don't make my mistake and leave the sharpener in the normal position when removing the shaving tray or they'll spill all over the place! You either have to unplug and take the whole device into the trash can, or turn it upside down, tap a few times, THEN remove the chip tray. Other than those few things, it's great!
