I have an old TV and a newer Roku. They don't work together thanks to a copy protection scheme known as HDCP. Basically, if you try to watch TV, even over-the-air programs through the TV tuner app, you can't do it because the HDCP warning blocks the screen. I read many reviews and visited several websites to find out how to solve the problem. I tried the portta splitter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088HP93A here and it didn't remove HDCP so I reset it. Apparently many of these splitters were already working in 2014-16, but they have since been redesigned and no longer bypass HDCP. I stumbled across this one and gave it a try based on relatively recent reviews. I plugged it in, turned it on and was rewarded with the ability to watch TV. The price is right so if you are in a similar situation this might solve the problem. Ordered on Friday, received free shipping on Tuesday and shipped from the US to Kentucky.
