Superb - In Ear Headphones

I have to admit that when it comes to headphones, headphones, geeks, I'm under $150. I listen a lot, 6-8 hours a day. For the past 3 years, the Sony XBA-A2 ($150) has been my favorite. I also have a Klipsch R6i II ($80) and an Audio Technica ATH-E40 ($100) in my portfolio. Sony is the cleanest for me, Klipsch is pretty good but bass is thick and muddy, AT highs hurt. These are all "good" headphones, but they are all different (as the manufacturer claims) and unique. And then one day Focal came into my world. Focal undoubtedly makes some of the best speakers in the world! These guys have a few different headphones which is why I went for a whopping $80. I'm not sure how to write this without sounding goofy, but these are the cleanest, most accurate, and "open" headphones I've ever tried. . The first thing that struck me was the open and airy soundstage with separation, like my Revel M105. Bass is tight, realistic, without the "boom" typical of 98% of headphones on the market. Like Bose......(except their QC35) I prefer to hear what the musician, engineer and producer put on the record. I don't want the speaker/headphone manufacturer to change the sound to my liking! They represent music as it was recorded, at least in the headphone world... Try Focal headphones.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
