Yes I followed the installation instructions and it stuck for a while but eventually fell off the wall. I liked the idea of not having to deal with the complicated installation of a permanent handle. The idea of portability is also attractive. Considering the protective gear that can be reached if balance is lost, I consider this a safety hazard. The fine print says it's not designed to support your weight and should only be used for balancing. Well, I could use the wall as a balance. In addition, there is a long list of finishes that are not compatible with this item. I installed it on an acceptable surface but it wasn't durable. In my opinion, this is more of a security risk than anything else.
