Plugged the USB-C end into the back of my desktop PC and then a known/working USB 3.0 flash drive, it lit up but NOTHING showed up in my Windows 10.1 became file manager! Plugged the exact same flash drive into several different USB ports on the PC and it works great. I could detect an old USB 2.0 stick. RESULT: I received a $0 defective hard drive.
