I bought this set because I was looking for thinning blades and thought it would be a good idea to upgrade my scissors. None of the scissors are very sharp. I was able to use thinning scissors just fine. Ordinary ones would be very difficult to use for haircuts. Since they are not sharp when you try to cut your hair they just squeeze the hair causing it to cut unevenly or push out of the scissors tip. I ended up using my old scissors for the main part of the cut. These are just the ones that came with the old hair clippers many years ago. I wouldn't buy them again.
