Review on πŸ”§ Ullman CHP6-LP 9-3/4" Six Piece Hook and Pick Set (Pack of 6) by Ullman Devices by Beth Allen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent kit, NOT MADE IN AMERICA.

Contrary to what the Ullman Devices manufacturer's own website says: In January 2017, Ullman Devices was acquired by Saunders Midwest, but all manufacturing and customer service remained in Connecticut. Taken directly from the website of Ullman Devices, the manufacturer of the lock pick set in question. This pick set is not made in America, the box proudly states MADE IN CHINA. The same day I received this set of picks I emailed Ulman to ask about them and was told that some of their part numbers were made overseas to their standards and specifications. Made in China to your standards and specifications does not mean it is made in Connecticut, America. They offer another set of 6 American made guitar picks and almost everyone complains about the included storage case which is cheap and breaks down quickly. I bought this set based on 2 things; 1) It has a more convenient storage roll than the other set. 2) The Ullman Devices website says all manufacturing is done in Connecticut so they said I would buy an American made product. If I had known that this set was actually made in China and not Connecticut (as Ullman Devices claims) I would have bought another American made set. Aside from this issue, the set of master keys is fine, but time will tell. The supply roll is good but the Ullmann logo screen printing is quite cheap and already washed off in the box. The same goes for pick buttons. They are printed with the Ullman logo, the printing is cheap and washable already in the storage roll. The grips also feel very slick, a bit oily, not quite what you expect from a grip. If you are looking for an American made instrument, this set is not for you.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Useless features
