Review on Winter Ready: Unisex Hiking Boots With Non-Slip Sole, Water Resistance, & Soft Lining by Chad Fox

I have a very active, energetic dog who needs walks year-round. Since I live in Minnesota, this can be a challenge in winter. I don't always love to use those spike things you attach to your shoes, so the rest of the time I want to be able to wear boots with some decent traction.Yesterday we had sleet (putting down a nice layer of ice) followed by about 3-4 inches of snow. I walked my dog first thing this morning when it was around 20 degrees. I was delighted by a few things.First, these boots were comfortable. I usually walk between 2-3 miles, and these boots were fine, They were flexible enough on my foot like I need for walking. Secondly, they were warm. Keeping in mind I don't consider 20 degrees that cold (we'll get to -20 as winter progresses), but it was a good indicator that they'll do the job just fine. I wore a pair of wool socks, so the thickness and warmth of those probably helped.But how was the traction? There really isn't anything that works perfectly on ice. That's why people wear spikes on their shoes. But for walking without spikes, these boots seemed to compare well to much higher prices options on the market. My dog is leash-reactive and strong, so walking him on ice isn't my favorite activity. But I think these boots will do exactly what I need them to do for the conditions.
