Power Consumption (Marine)

Product arrived in good condition and on time with no problems. I purchased this item to provide a standard 120/115V power supply for a cabin cruiser boat restoration project. This product fits the bill well. The hinged lid makes it ideal for marine applications, and the same lid also serves as a very secure and watertight seal between the mounting surface and the power inlet, which is a HUGE plus for rainy days at sea. However, I put some sealant on it to be on the safe side. The electric pens are much stronger and more durable than others I've seen and should last for many years. Maybe this is the life of the boat. One question I had prior to purchasing was how to connect the cable to this product as this is a big problem. So I'll explain what I see; The black piece you see on the back of the connector body is actually a protective rubber casing with a hole in one end that fits three 12 AWG wires very tightly. This rubberized black case fits very well on the back of the device. The wires do NOT require nuts or straps. There are three color coded electrical connectors that secure your wire by simply inserting the wire into the color coded hole and using a Phillips head screwdriver just twist it a few turns and it snaps onto the wire fairly snugly. However, I applied some liquid electrical paste to the connectors for additional corrosion protection. I highly recommend this product and it should work well in any outdoor application.
