I bought these CDs and was wondering what could be so special about a generic brand CD blank? I found out...but was surprised. I've read that people have had problems with the CD just not working. but here is an explanation why it didn't work for me. When I put the CD in the computer to start recording, the spinning CD started making a very loud grinding noise. I've never heard of it and thought my old Macbook might finally be in its final (burning) phase. However, I quickly pulled out the CD and put in a new one. Surprisingly, they received well. this noise repeated on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th cd... then like magic the 7th was fine. As I began to delve deeper into the CD, I compared it to the big brands I've used and found that these Verbatims are slightly lighter than the big brand CDs. They are just too light to fit and pick up properly. in my laptop. I've since bought several higher quality brands and haven't had any issues. End of story, had to go back.
