Review on πŸ’‘ Silverstone SX750-PT 750W SFX Power Supply - Fully Modular, 80 Plus Platinum Certified by Pedro Curtis

Cons include loud fan noise and outdated cables. Otherwise it could have been

I don't think the engineers/designers of this PSU paid much attention to the SFF systems. First, I confirm the review that says the fan never turns off once triggered until you shut down the system (reboot didn't work, yes I tried). I find that anyone who has built an ITX system sits pretty close to their PC and it gets annoyingly noisy as the fan is ALWAYS running at FULL RPM when you're just surfing the web and/or doing really light stuff. Otherwise it would be the end for me, because all 700+ watt SFX power supplies are sold out everywhere. Enough for an amateur. The size is compact as expected and the cables are long enough for an ITX setup. Speaking of cables, I don't understand why they chose PCIe cables from 8-pin to two 6+2-pin cables for this "new" line of PSUs. In any case, it was never a good idea to use this type of cable for GPUs with two 8-pin connectors, and now new generation GPUs require much more power than a single 8-pin cable can carry, so these choice not It makes no sense and it is much more difficult to manage the cable. (Yes, cable management is critical in small form factor builds). I also agree on how stiff the cables are, but that's a plus for me because they hold their shape very well, at least better than ones that don't hold the bend you're trying to make. In general, BP is normal. Competitive price for 750W 80+ plat. However, I don't recommend it to any friend, but maybe AFTER THEY SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE FAN.
